1. Primarily student should have a bent of mind for study and learning

• A student should go to study in the branch he likes best. Mind setting is the most important here. He/she should not be forced to go to a particular discipline.

2. Should create a study atmosphere wherever they stay - be it their own house or a mess or the hostel.

• As the prime objective of a student's life is study, they should try harder for studying their lessons than for doing any other thing.

3. Should not have a negative mind for creating a study atmosphere in a small house where they live with their parents. Smallness of the physical structure of the accomodation never creates any hurdle in thinking. integrity of mind and though process matters much.

• Behavior is one of the most important aspects of a good men or woman and a part of building a good social life. Building up of proper behaviour should be one of the prime object of a student. Behavior should be very much refined and polite. When you deal with elders particularly, be they teachers, parents or anybody.
• Dress is not less important for a student. Dress maketh a man. Sometimes it brings piousness in mind and brings a study atmosphere in the institution of late, probably a dress code is introduced in our State now. Unnatural dresses or erratic dress of a woman student is not desirable particularly in student life . Simple pattern dresses are most suitable for students.

4. A positive mind is always constructive in nature, She should try to have a positive thought process.

5. Always try to aspire a little higher than your actual reach.

6. Should have faith in God. God fearing attitude creates a creative mind and acts as a mind rectifier. By the thought of His omnipresence students will feel that every act of their is witnessed by God. So they will fear of doing unwanted things.

Affiliated with the State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training (SCTEVT) and fully funded by the Orissa State Government; Women's Polytechnic (WP), Bhubaneswar is ensconced in a serene campus having a total area of 14.51 acres. The modern hi-tech infrastructure were developed under a World Bank (WB) assisted project.

WP, which started functioning since 1978 has now grown into a premier technical and vocational education institute of the state offering both engineering and non-engineering diploma courses to the women students of the state and the country. The institute is well known for its innovative curricula and excellent pedagogy as well as also for the disciplined atmosphere.

Three years diploma courses in Information Technology, Architectural Assistantship, Electronics & Telecom Engineering, Modern Office Management and two years courses in Pharmacy and Beauty Culture are being imparted by the institute. These courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India.

In order to facilitate practical learning experience of the students of different departments, WP has well equipped AutoCAD Laboratory, Civil Engineering Laboratory, Electronics & Telecommunication Laboratory, Electrical Engineering Laboratory, Computer Center, Architectural Studio, Photography laboratory, Office Equipment Laboratory, Pharmaceutical Laboratory, Physics & Chemistry Laboratory, Beauty Culture Laboratory,Yoga Hall and various Workshops inside the campus.

The faculty members are highly qualified and competent in their respective areas of specialization. Round the year, the teachers are encouraged to join refreshers courses, attend workshops, add additional qualifications, go through relevant training programmes, etc. to enhance their expertise and knowledge necessary for keeping pace with the latest developments in the emerging fields.

The Library of the institute has more than 16 thousand reference & text books and 26 journals are being subscribed for the benefit of the students and staff members. At the Learning Resources Utilisation Center (LRUC) latest suitable qualitative learning materials are developed on continuous basis to add to the changing requirements of the curricula. The students and faculty members are regularly in touch with the industries by means of study tours and industrial trainings for gaining real-life experience & exposure; in order to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Further, the industries are also actively involved by WP for the improvement of the curricula so that it can be relevant in the changing scenario. The representatives of the industries and the students & faculty members interact in seminars, workshops, conferences and study tours to advance their professional and learning horizons.

As a leading technical and vocational institute of the state, WP offers consultancy services required by the public and industries. In order to cater to the need of the employed and others, the institute runs various tailor-made short term training and orientation programmes. It has also facilities for testing equipments, products, and services.

After successfully completing the courses, the students are placed under one year Post-Diploma Practical Training internship with the respective industries, institutes and business houses to enhance their employability and visibility in the employment market. As per the norms of the Board of Practical Training (BoPT), Government of India; these students are provided with a stipend while undergoing the training to partly compensate for their labour.
